Community event calendars offer more choices than ever. So many fun choices can make it seem like we are always missing out on something worth attending. However, pick the event that will bring you or your family the most joy. Pick the event that is critical to your work-life success. Choose the event that supports a family member.
Family event calendars can become overwhelming too. Graduations. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Sporting events. Practices. Recitals. Plays. Concerts. Weddings. Showers. Parties for no reason. Holidays. Take the summer to confirm event calendars that fit your family and keep you sane, rather than draining you.
Personal event calendars often take a back seat to everyone else’s needs and requests. What have you put on your calendar that feeds you and your soul? Yoga is a three day a week (on average) calendar event that is feeding my soul and strengthening my body. Family dinners, book club meetings, and time with friends are also on my after-work calendar.
Work event calendars: summer picnics, office parties, trade show events, travel requirements and more can creep into our personal and family event calendars. The juggling act can feel a lot less like nesting than staying home in our nests. So, choose events to calendar that support your work accomplishments and teambuilding. Decline events that deplete you or that detain you from needed family and/or personal time.
Sometimes saying “NO, thanks for asking me” is a better response that saying “I’ll put that on my calendar.” Overbooking lets everyone down and causes you stress. Balanced event calendars keep you healthy and not letting others down. Fill your event calendars only to the level that works for you.
