NestingCards® can be sent one at a time – one stamp per card/envelope. Seven messages to seven people. One message a day for a week to the same person. Or, they can be sent in a variety of configurations, as described in today’s blog.

When sending two or more cards nested together, check the weight of what you’ve packaged so you apply the correct postage and get the cards into your recipient’s hands, ready for their enjoyment.
NestingCards can be sent two at a time: Last weekend I gave two nested cards – one serious message and one playful message – for a birthday celebration that ultimately opened with gift-card enclosure. As my friend opened the cards, her husband could be heard saying “oh, like those dolls that are nested together. Fun!”
Another two-card use: one card with a message from you and the enclosure of a blank-card and pre-addressed with your address and stamp on the envelope, all hinting that you’d love to hear back from the person. What a great way to develop a pen pal writing relationship with a grandchild, a friend, or a relative!
Three NestingCards: One for each year of a three-year-olds’ life. One for each decade of a marriage or a person’s life. Or use each card to record and share a special shared memory.
Four: One card for each decade of working together and celebrating an anniversary or retirement. One card for each year of a child’s life. Shared memories on colorful cards can become keepsakes themselves: framed, bookmarks, shelf décor, and more.
Five NestingCards: Five-year anniversaries of work, school accomplishments, or a marriage can be celebrated card by card. Sharing memories, stories, funny happenings, or even a shared sad experience for which you felt supported can all be ways to include messages one card at a time.
Six: What are your ideas for how you’ll use six cards? Might you include a gift card in the smallest card opened? Maybe the stories you’ll share are the best gift. The beauty of these sets is that you can be creative and your recipients will be delighted! Some recipients may keep the card sets for reviewing year after year - as my niece has done with the set I gave her on her 18th birthday.
Multiple card use tip: Clues for a treasure hunt create suspense and delight too as card after card is opened.
All seven cards nested together are great for celebrations of decades – friendships, birthdays, and anniversaries.
- First card: celebrate the day of the birth or marriage or the how-we-met story.
- Second card: recognize what happened in the first decade of a person’s life, their marriage, or your friendship – milestones, funny stories, special memories.
- The third card can be a specific age or year, or celebrate the second decade of the person/people you are celebrating.
- The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh cards can celebrate decades, specific years, and special memories.
When mailing all seven cards, you’ll need extra postage. Consider using a USPS Priority Mail envelope to protect this amazing package for your recipient.
